RARE MID-20TH CENTURY AME RI CAN VINTAGE LARGE FIGURATIVE OPAQUE COLOR LUCITE POLYMER SIGN on WHITE LUCITE SHEET, FEATURING CUT-OUT, STACKED COLOR LUCITE TERRACES, with ICONIC NH’OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN’ by NH FINANCE CORP. [Pre-drilled edge perforations for wall-mounting]. Mid-20th century Ame ri can vintage lucite signage & decorative polymer advertising. 36 ¼” Height x 26 ¾” Width. Weight: Approximately 13 lbs. In fabulous vintage condition. There’s only one small condition issue that only slightly perhaps mars its otherwise pristine, near immaculate surfaces and that’s a small, partial fissure or break in the lucite, that comes in from the upper right and stops about 2 into the field. It’s barely noticeable and no attempt was or has since been made to glue and fasten this area together with any kind of fixative. It happened most likely when the vintage signage was taken down and removed from the wall where it had hung for many years. It was recently discovered in the back storage room of a commercial building that was being renovated in the Wolfsboro region of Lake Winnipesaukee, located in the central New Hampshire region. It features a stacked, terraced, cut-out Modernist color lucite assemblage of the now gone, once iconic’Old Man of the Mountain,’ that once attracted visitors to the famous Franconia Notch mountain range from all over the country and world. The lucite signage was made for the New Hampshire Finance Corporation Subsidiary, a business, finance and investment entity since 1924. These Modernist artifacts, especially in this kind of relatively well-preserved overall vintage condition, aren’t just falling out of the sky anymore and have become increasingly more and more scarce, the more we are removed from the mid-20th century and many of these vintage objects are either unfortunately discarded or destroyed, finding their new homes on the bottom of landfills or in trash incinerators. Luckily for this piece of wonderful Modernist color lucite signage, this was not the case and it was luckily spared the wrecking ball. A great mid-20th century Ame ri can artifact and piece of vintage advertising. Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
